Prepare to Buy a Home
There are four essential steps involved in getting ready to buy your first home.
Have your Credit in Order

Save
Your ability to save shows readiness to be a homeowner. It is never too soon to start saving for down payment and closing costs. Banking your tax return is a wonderful way to give a boost to your down payment savings account. Savings programs called IDAs (with matches for each dollar saved) are available locally.
Home Buyer Education

Be Organized
Organize your paper work and be prepared to submit a completed application on time. Documents you need to submit with your housing application include Federal Tax Returns, W-2 and 1099 Forms, most recent pay stubs, rent receipts and copies of bank statements.
